The Fukushima Accident
نویسنده
چکیده
On March 11, 2011 an unusually strong earthquake, now called the Tohoku earthquake, occurred off the north-eastern coast of Japan's main island, Honshu. While the earthquake caused some destruction, the ensuing tsunami about three quarters of an hour later largely destroyed numbers of towns and devasted cities such as Sendai. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqarchives/poster/2011/20110311.php http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Tōhoku_earthquake_and_tsunami

Assessment of atmospheric dispersion from ANPP hypothetical accident based on Fukushima accident by HYSPLIT model
The atmospheric dispersion of Materials is one of the most important ways of spreading contamination of a NPP accident. In this study, the particle paths were calculated by HYSPLIT model (both pressure and AGL form of trajectory) horizontally and vertically at 0 and 1.5 meters above ground level during 15-day periods for 23& 24 November 2006 start times. Then, the releases values of Fukushima a...
متن کاملRecent Fukushima nuclear detonation, Chernobyl nuclear fallout, three mile island nuclear accident and atomic bomb explosion – rethinking the effects of nuclear radiations over human health
Background: The earlier Atomic Bomb explosion in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and three worth mentioning nuclear accidents - detonation at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, Chernobyl nuclear fallout and an accident at Three Mile Island nuclear power plant have made us more worried about the secure exploitation of nuclear energy. The central focus of this paper is to review radiation-mediated health e...
متن کاملAn Outbreak of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Yamagata Prefecture Following the Great East Japan Earthquake
Background: In the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake, most of the areas in Yamagata prefecture experienced a serious power failure lasting for approximately 24 hours. A number of households were subsequently poisoned with carbon monoxide (CO) due to various causes. In this study, we conducted a survey of CO poisoning during the disaster. Methods: A questionnaire regarding CO poisonin...
متن کاملEvacuation effect on excess mortality among institutionalized elderly after the fukushima daiichi nuclear power plant accident.
The Great East Japan Earthquake hit Fukushima Prefecture on March 11, 2011, just over 3 years ago and it continues to affect our lives. In Fukushima, many people are confirmed dead or still missing due to the earthquake and/or tsunami. Additional "disaster-related deaths" have been attributed to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) accident. Mortality among the institutionalized elde...
متن کاملTemporal changes in the transfer of accidentally released Cs from tree crowns to the forest floor after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident
Forests in Fukushima and neighboring prefectures accumulated atmospheric fallout of radioactive materials after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. We investigated the initial behavior of Cs deposited in coniferous forest plantations. Furthermore, we conducted in-situ measurements of radioactivity in coniferous and broadleaf forest canopies. The results of this study demonstrate...
متن کاملRadioactive cesium accumulation in freshwater fishes after the Fukushima nuclear accident
The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (F1NPP) accident released large amounts of radioactive substances into the environment and contaminated the terrestrial and marine ecosystems in East Japan. The unpredicted nuclear accident is of global concern for human health and ecosystems. Investigations of radionuclides in the local environments were performed shortly after the accident began; howe...
